    On this day.....In 1295, on the day now known as Lancashire day, we celebrate representatives being sent to Edward 1's Model Parliament. Lancastrians were amongst that number, hence the date celebration. In 1895 the Swedish chemist Alfred Nobel establishes the Nobel PrizeToday in 1967 the Beatles release the album "Magical Mystery Tour"Circa, 4,000 tons of explosives stored in a cavern beneath Staffordshire exploded, killing 68 people and was heard in London,In 1967 President de Gaulle said ‘Non’ to Britain joining what was then known as the Common Market.In 2008 The QE2 cruise liner retired from active Cunard servicePhillip Hughes, who played test cricket for Australia died aged 25, two days after being hit on the top of the neck by a ball.In 2014 we saw the death, of the British crime writer PD James, aged 94.
